Roush performance pack 1 installed
New to the forum and have a question for all you smart folks. I couldn’t find any threads on this subject other than the Roush exhaust being loud. I have a 2017 F150 SCREW 5.0 and had the Roush performance pack 1 (CAI and tune) installed last week and have a question. I left my exhaust stock for now. Has anyone run into excessive exhaust resonation in the cab under a load after installing any CAI and tune? This is the first tune I’ve ever had done. I called the installing dealership the day after install to voice my concerns on the noise under normal driving and was told that the performance pack would wake up the 5.0. I understand that much, but yesterday I towed my boat for the first time since the tune and the exhaust resonation was mind numbing under a load to the point the entire cab vibrated. It sounds like someone took the exhaust resonator out. Today, I called Roush and they weren’t any help other than take it back to the installing dealership and make sure the CAI is installed properly. I was at the dealership with the service manager at the time of call. The dealership is going to take look the truck tomorrow, but like the Service manager said everything is pretty much straight forward with the tune and CAI install. I am at the point of going back to stock because of the noise. I thought about changing the exhaust to a Magnaflow catback, but hate to drop 1K and still have the problem. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Have you looked under the truck to see if anyone has modified the exhaust? An intake will increase induction noise under load, but will not (or should not) cause drone...at least to the degree where it resonates in the cab.
Can you post a video?

I agree with what you said on the induction. Had them before never heard anything remotely close to this. Nobody has modified the exhaust. I even got under the truck to check everything out. I will try to post a video as soon as I can.
CAI's that are open topped make A LOT of noise while towing on our trucks. I had a Spectre CAI, and it would resonate pretty loud.
Not to be confused with the exhaust resonator, which basically eliminates raspiness, and some wird RPM droning that isn't all that loud on the 2015's and up

Yep, figured that out 2 days ago. I meant to post it, but forgot. Removed the Roush CAI and went back to OEM airbox and resonating is gone. It did not affect the tune at all and as mileage actually went up 2 MPG. Lessened learned, DO NOT put a CAI on 5.0 unless you like your teeth rattled. I can’t even consider the Roush a CAI because it’s not completely sealed. The air box can suck in warm engine air and debris from around the intake tube. A complete waste!!! I would be embarassed if I were Roush. Thanks for the help!!!
