Realistic expectations?
I’m new to this modification stuff. Never even put an exhaust or rims on a vehicle until this truck. Anything I need to be aware of or take into consideration before I do the following to my truck? I have a 2018 SCrew 4x4 Sport 5.0 with 3.31. I plan to put a ARE camper shell on the back which I know adds weight and will offset some gains. Currently have a 3” midpipe to dual 2.5” through a Magnaflow bullet muffler and want to add the following to the truck. I don’t have any “goals” other than the truck to continue to be a reliable daily driver, just with more power.
Can’t afford to go with a supercharger so engine will remain NA. Considering installing long tube headers, catted y-pipe, tune, and CAI. Will keep 3” midpipe and back. Will run the truck on 93 octane. Think this will be about $3000 total.
So will what I think I want affect daily driveability negatively in any way? The most I tow is a small 5x10 single axle utility trailer with a 4 wheeler on it, and that’s only 4-5 700 mile round trips per year. I’m in Houston so I have a mix of highway and the country’s worst traffic, lol. Don’t want the truck too loud, as I have kids and we will still use the truck for family stuff.
Overall wanting a fun project with noticeable power power improvements without making the truck so modified it’s only good for the track. Thanks!

With a NA V8 this is a good order but you should put a tuner and tune first and possibly save the $$ on the CAI. That should put a smile on yer face! KM

Biggest performance difference between the 5.0 mustang and the truck, aside from the tune, is going to be the exhaust. The mustang has proper tubular manifolds and true dual exhaust.
If you are staying NA, then there is a good deal of performance locked up in your exhaust. Save your money on the intake and put it towards a tune or exhaust.

Thanks for your post. Would the Borla Touring be a good pairing with the Oz tune? I've got 2018 5.0l 3.31 and the Whipple is not in the cards. Don't want to wake the neighbours but looking for very noticeable rumble at idle and been researching what route to take to get there.
