Default nGauge

I will be selling/trading my F150 soon and have an nGauge that is locked into my VIN - once I reload the stock tune will the nGauge then be worthless? I'm guessin' it's a candidate for the trash bin, assuming the new owner won't want it & the tune on it.

Thanks!

I'm in the same situation. Traded my truck in and loaded stock tune before doing it. Got Ngauge sitting here.

Should be the case that once you load it back to stock it is unlocked and someone else could have tunes written for their truck.

Is it a vendor specific model or will it accept anyones tunes?

Mine is a 5star but I ran an MPT tune on it with no problems. Loaded stock back on truck so I guess tuner would work for someone else.

I think the only ones that are vendor specific are from Lund.

Pretty certain mine will be going in the trash - The serial number on my nGauge is 62001 - according to this: device serial numbers over 58700 cannot be unlocked and therefore will vin lock to the specific vehicle being tuned.

I have an e-mail in to 5Star for compatability with my truck.

IF YOU GUYS ARE THROWING AWAY YOUR NGUAGES ILL TAKE THEM AND ILL PAY SHIPPING.

Some Nguages are locked to a specific tuner like Lund, as already mentioned i think some with higher serial numbers are vin locked. Not sure if the serial number thing is a tuner specific thing (like 5 star wont continue to unlock them over a certain serial number) or not. I just sold mine but got an unlock file from 5 star because "returning it to stock" doesn't remove the vehicle. Id be curious if other tuners have the same guidelines for specific serial #'s,
