Default Launching in 4wd?

My father in law just bought a 2016 SCAB 5.0 and has a PRX 93 tune from MPT. Curious if launching in 4wd is the way to go. It does have an e-locker and 3.31's. If launching in 4wd, would he switch to 2WD at some point? Maybe after 60'. Sorry, I have zero experience with 4wd.

Also what would an expected time be approximately? I'm guessing mid-high 13's

If traction is an issue in 2wd then yes launch in 4wd.
My routine is to go around the water box, straighten up, engage 4wd then creep to staging lanes. If the water box is very sloppy and it's hard to keep your tires dry going around then I will do a small dry hop. Seems to help.
4wd won't disengage under WOT so no need to disengage mid pull unless you just don't want to forget. I wait until i'm below 20 mph to disengage mine. Just make sure to do it before turning on to the return road.

He's on stock tires so I'm sure traction will be some sort of issue. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the consensus seems to be that 4x4 wont disengage. Although, I wonder if the Lariat and up transfer case would since its just a clutch.

Ugh, 3.31's and a 6 speed. Not likely with 3.31's is going to have traction issues on warm tires from a dig. It will probably burn the tires more on a 25mph WOT pull. My 2016 would murder the tires from a roll, but that was all terrains and OZ tune with CAI, Res delete.

Wish I had 3.73's with my 2016, the 5.0 works best with shorter axle gears......

Yeah, that's why I went with 4.10s. I drove his truck on the street and it was squirrely from a dig, maybe a different story on a prepped track.
