Default intake

Hello all......I would like to install a cold air intake(K&N) is my choice but have read that some are having issues with engine codes being thrown which is not good. I had one on my Ranger and never any issues. So my question is what do you recommend for this type of product? Also would like to install a cat back exhaust so choices for that as well. I have a 2023 F150 2.7 Ecoboost. Thanks for any help with these......JIm

Why?
Stock intake will flow more air than your engine can use, even with a tune.

Along with that all so called "high flow" filter elements let more dust and debris thru the element. No much good for feeding into a spinning turbine. If ya have to have the sound you could drill a bunch of holes in the lower air box. KM

I've had K&N and S&B on some PSD. Oil analysis always showed elevated silica levels. I switched back to the HE donaldsons and #'s returned to normal. You include any notes and i point out all my mods and they indicated that they see it commonly w/ "open air/high flow" filters. I'll never use this type of filter again.

Fwiw, the donadlson on the 6.0 PSD will flow enough for two large compounds. I was also told by a Rudys diesel that the dondaldson will easily flow enough for a race program on a compounded 6.4 PSD.

I'll risk losing a few HP to have good compression while I own my vehicle.

I have the S&B system on my 15 3.5. To combat known intrusion, I run a pre-filter over the normal filter. Benefits there are two fold: keeps the normal filter cleaner for longer, and keeps more particles out of the engine without blocking too much flow.

Honestly, I'll stay stock from now on.

I'm retired with time to play with my truck. I am not much of a believer until I can test something multiple times and come up with some averages. Intake mods on modern engines and specifically Fords simply can not add much if any power due to the way the ECU controls the engine, it is a demand system and once the ECU demand is met more airflow does nothing. In spite of that I did try a twin tube intake to experiment. A COBB unit with large cone filter feeding twin tubes to the turbos. The high flow cone filter twin tube set on my tuned 2.7 lost power slightly on average 0-80 WOT runs. Slight DIY mod to fit the stock type panel filter and 0-80 times improve a bit on average over the stock intake and the stock COBB setup. I live close to my tuner and took the logs in and updater the tune. Other owners I communicate with including the man who wrote my tune say the stock CAI will support near 600 horsepower. The twin tube intake was slightly better than the stock joined set in low end response (not a lot), so I have kept the COBB air box top and twin tube to the turbos but run a stock panel style WIX filter.
