Default Ignition coil replacement

Hi everyone,

So I have an issue, I replaced all 8 spark plugs, all eight ignition coils.

After disconnecting the battery, the engine light came off. Took it for a test drive and it runs really rough. (Shakes at times).

sound out of the exhaust now seems really muffled.

any suggestions on what my issue is?

Welcome to the forum. What coils did you install and have you tried putting the original coils back on to see how it runs?

hi there,

I put motorcraft plugs in and NGK coils. Before I replaced plugs and coils, I had is scanned and 1-4 were misfiring. Changed the plugs first, then it seems to run rougher.

changed all 8 coils, and now the exhaust seems to muffle a lot more. It’s like something is resisting the flow of exhaust out and not allowing the motor to run properly.

If you drove with misfires for a long time it could have trashed the catalytic converters, which could choke the exhaust flow. There should technically be codes if they are clogged. Should have just bought OEM replacement coils.
