Default How to order correct shocks?

I am posting here because there seems to be more legitiment responses. At ride height my rear shocks are 21 & 21-3/4.

Do I split the stroke of the shock evenly collapse and extended. For instance Fox list a shock at 26" extended and 16" collapsed.

Look at the maximum distance between the shock mounts with the suspension fully extended and fully compressed, and add 1” to the maximum extended length and subtract 1” from the maximum compressed length and that’ll give you the recommended shock length.

Good info thanks. My rear is lowered unconventionally so there is not a kit specific shock that fits the bill which is why I need to finger it out for myself.
