Default First Upgrades and mods.

I'm a first time Ford owner. Find myself falling in love with my 9th Gen and looking to do some performance upgrades soon. I have a 96 F150 XLT 4x4 with a 5.8 V8 351Winsdor. Am not looking to do anything ridiculous, just want to make her a little faster and louder. I want her to sound like a hungry hog and keep up with mustangs.lol.Just looking for some advice on parts, tune and what not. Any advice or tips are welcome. Thanx.

youre already looking to be ridiculous.

You're driving an old heavy limited horsepower brick.

Regardless of other opinion these are still great old trucks. Been a log time but I believe this would be a mass air roller cam motor which makes them easier to upgrade. Two biggest / easiest thing would be exhaust and a cam.

Cam, heads, intakes, shorty or long tube headers along with the rest of the exhaust, throttle body, cold air intake if the truck doesn’t have one already from factory.

The most expensive would be replacing the heads. IMO the old Ford Windsor motors just had crappy heads from the factory. In the cost to have the cast iron heads built up it’d be better to just find a nice set aluminum performance heads.
