If I order an etune and download it to my laptop can I connect my laptop to my truck to upload it or do I have to have a separate device to be able to upload the tunes?

each company online that you can order a tune from requires a different device so check with the tuner you planned to use and they will tell you which device you need to have

 

Your laptop can't connect to your PCM without a tuning program/software that can "see and change" the PCM settings. This software also requires hardware interface to download/load the tune from/to the PCM. I personally recommend HP Tuners. I use the MPVI 3. That is $400. I use the same device to tune both of my Fords. Each vehicle requires a license which also costs $. 21+ F150 requires 4 credits ($50/credit) and you need to remove the PCM and send it to HPT to unlock it. That costs $100. All this ($700 so far) then add the cost of the tune from your favorite tuner. Hope that helps.
