how much can I trust my stock driveshaft? (whipple 2017 4x4) what are people doing for high rpm/horsepower?

I wasn’t gonna chance it. I had Randy’s Driveshaft in Houston build me a real part...not that tin can POS Ford installs.

For a 2 piece shaft with upgraded u-joints it was just shy of $1000.

thanks, I'll add that to my list of things I need to upgrade. My high speed stuff will be at the track, but Id rather not have to worry about breaking a ujoint.

For what its worth my 2016's driveshaft didn't grenade when it was spun to 150mph on the dyno the other day lol, but I'm a regular cab with a single piece steel driveshaft (4x4). I believe the total output shaft RPM was just over 6000rpm, which made me nervous as hell. I've looked around at custom options, but none of my local shops can balance a shaft to that rpm. I might take a stab at measuring it and ordering a carbon shaft from the driveshaft shop.

Carbon isn’t the best idea for a street vehicle. They grenade with any impact damage which is much more likely on the street than a track. I’ve had mine to 150 on the street and it’s smooth as glass.

Is it true these 15-18 F150 driveshafts starts to get sketchy at 600whp or all speculation and no actual failures?

Seen enough fail on the FB pages it convinced me to have one built.
