Does anyone know what 3 tunes are standard? is it just 87/89/91 ? and is it worth the extra $150-200 to have stage 3 custom build it?

Definitely want a tuner, as in the spring getting larger tires, and this will let me adjust the speedo for the tire size.

http://www.sctflash.com/products/sct...ners/sctx4/691 $ 349

Stage 3 - $399/ or $499 w/tunes
CJpony same 399
SCT $349
I usually have an even CTY/HWY mixed driving and depending on my mood just 87 octane, although I may just switch to 93.
Seems like avg price is basic tune $400/ some custom tunes $500+. My 3.5 eco runs great, would be nice to have the extra throttle and after the step-up in tires too

Any thoughts?
leaning toward just the basic tuner / however, if someone has experience in it,
I am already thinking; 87 PT, 93 PT, 93P
For your 2014, I would highly recommend going with custom tunes. 5* is a great tuning company, but seem to be experiencing some growing pains at the moment and response times may be slow. If you're looking for more out of a tune from a Power side, I would consider Unleashed. Torrie has the Gen1's pretty dialed in. If you want good power, but want really good drive-ability, I would consider Gearhead. Both tuner have pacakge deals right on their website.

Either way, go for the custom tune. the canned tune is OK for the 2014, but not as good as they are for the 2017+ trucks from SCT. You basically just select your octane and go with the canned tune.

Omega is the special name of the tuning provided by Ken Osborne at TuningByOz. Keeps the factory flex fuel capability but with added power.

What that shop will do on the dyno is about identical to what you'll get from any number of companies that you can get SCT custom tunes from online, like 5* or Oz. Dyno has more ability to optimize but even then you can record information of the vehicle's performance, aka datalog, and an online tuner can do the same through email. It's a wonderful age we live in.

Edit: in my experience, the tune that comes on an SCT device is garbage and stock was smoother

Agreed, OZ is well known in the 5.0 world as a good tuner. I think the OP has a Eco, I don't even know if Oz can tune Eco's, but the other tuners mentioned are well known Eco tuners.

^ thanks for the info. I will look into a custom tune over a pre-packaged one. SCT-MPT 5star or Gearhead. The SCT from GH tuning seemed vague on whats included, I will give them a call tomorrow

Matt is a really good tuner. I have run tunes from MPT, GearHead, Unleashed, BoostKing and I have my own tunes as well. Everyone has there own approach and pros/cons.

SCT who sells the just the tuners X4, said to try just the Canned one's first ( preferably getting it there for $349 ) or ebay haha for $299-329 range. and tune it later if needed.
the Stage3 place seemed kind of clueless. could not get in touch with MorePowerTuning or GH. The SCT guy seemed like; canned versus custom, might only really notice a difference on the track. But the tuner would be noticeable and most certainly help in the spring when I upgrade to a larger tire. I have 3.73 gears, just planning on 295/70/18 vs. stock 275.65.18

^ I got a SCT Tuner X4 ( Could not pass up the deal, my neighbor had the tune and unmarried it as he just sold his truck )
Running Canned tuned 93 this week with New Plugs, and Throttle spacer. Have noticed a few good things so far;
much more responsive, and better fuel mileage. Since I got a super deal on the Tuner, I am going to give custom tunes a shot.
On my mind for tunes; 93 Performance, 93 Tow, and possibly an adaptive tune ( just incase gas jumps to $5 a gallon )

I am hoping the custom tune will be as big of an improvement as the Canned tune from stock was! Hopefully
If this works out well, In the spring I will be replacing my tires with the same stock size ( 275/65/18 ) I was going to go with 295/70/18. but if the custom tune is what everyone is saying then I will keep the fuel mileage and power/speed ( haha ).

I love my truck, and so far the canned tune makes it even more fun. Thanks to everyone on here for the help too

If you want to dyno tune it, PM me. I have a buddy here in Indy (far East side) that has a shop/Dyno and does a great job on everything from a Yukon, F150, Corvette, and Mustang. He's has a great reputation and history.

Thanks to everyone for the help! Custom tune was absolutely amazing. I was impressed just going from Stock to a Canned tune.
But the Custom 93PRX tune was night and day. I have only driven 1 day with the custom tune and I am only bummed that I didn't do this years ago.
I still cannot believe how the truck is soo much more responsive ( regardless from a stand still, rolling, or cruising ), and makes it feel "lighter". Originally I was thinking of adding a CAI, and Downpipes. But now I am done ! thought about a set of gauges (A-Pillar ) but not sure if it's worth the few hundred, or a vent boost gauge.
Might go up a size in tires in the spring from 275/65r18 to 285 or 295's. But now I am not 100% sure on that.

If anyone happens to be on offense to get a tune, don't think twice. If I trade my F150 in next year or after I will not wait so long to get a tune. With the newer F150's I was told the performance is even better. I might even get a tune for 19-Flex ( 3.5Eco )

Again, thanks for the help !
