Is this something I should be concerned about. I have a 2015 F-150. I purchased it new and put a Gen 3 Whipple SC on it with about 8,000 miles on the odometer. Im running the 3.625 pully and I always use 93 pump gas. It now has 27,500 miles on it and im noticing soot around the tailpipe. This truck is not driven daily, but for the last 2 months it has been my daily driver. I tow with it about twice a year. The fuel mileage is consistent at 17mpg. Could this be a potential problem I should look into? The truck is stock except for the Whipple. After cleaning the tailpipe it takes about 2 weeks before it gets black again. I drive about 45 miles per day.
No, all vehicles have some amount of soot. Remember, there is a fire/explosion inside the engine and that flame has residual smoke. Now if it was totally black and going up the bottom of the bed I'd say you're running too rich but what you have looks pretty minima/normal.
