Boosting a 6R80?
Hey so this probably isn't the question yall normally get but I was thinking about putting an SC on my 2016 5.0 (only 50K Miles) and I was wondering if it was worth it to boost since its only the 6R80. I wasn't sure since I know the 10 speed is so much faster especially since I only have a gen 2 and not a gen 3+ Coyote. Also...
1. If it isn't worth can you tell me what is/if anything is more for power
and 2. If it is, what would yall recommend, Whipple or Procharger

But if that is not something you can swing financially then I dont see why supercharging the gen 2/6 speed would be bad.

Yeah as much as I would want to boost a 10 speed/Gen 3 the prices near me for those are still 55k+ and considering I got my truck about 7 months ago for 37k, I would just want to stay with my 6 speed. And the only reason I'm looking at supercharging it is because I'm selling another car to a friend for 13k and so i figured why not
coming from someone that spends more time in the mustang world, people tend to have a preference for the 6r80 for longevity purposes. In my light scanning of some of these things seems the 10R80 is more sensitive to getting hot if you're out there beating on it. If you're really gonna turn it up and make pass after pass then ya, you'll be looking for a built version no matter what.
with a truck one of the PD options is the only way to go imho.

I have a 2016 with a 2.9 Whipple. Put a supercharger on it and send it. The 6R80 is a very strong transmission. I've had mine on for about 20k miles, no issues with the trans. I'm running 3.625 pulley which is about 12.5psi.
Any of the superchargers on the market are capable grenading your engine. I went with the Whipple, kit is fairly straight forward to install. Get custom tuning for it, the Whipple tune leaves alot to be desired

Depends what you're looking for. If you want to be the fastest guy you know and beat supercars and all kinds of crazy stuff like that, get a 10spd and do it. If you want a fast truck that turns heads and is a blast to drive, go ahead and boost the 6spd truck. 6spd holds power better anyways.
Whipple is going to be the general recommendation. You'll be hard pressed to actually find a recommendation to run the procharger for several reasons
1. trucks are heavy and centrifugals need rpm to make any power, PD blowers have it immediately
2. Procharger drive pulley is bolted on and sticks out from the front of the engine more which woulds more load on the crank snout. All the blower kits can snap the crank but the prochargers are far more likely.
Another option to look at is the VMP Odin. If I was putting a blower on my 6spd I would probably go with the VMP Odin. The whipple 3.0 has a little bit more potential for overall power output but the Odin being a 2.65 TVS blower hits stronger in the low-midrange than the Whipple and would probably be more fun to drive with negligibly less potential on the big end. Either will push you past a shortblock and built trans
