I think I'm gonna take a pass on the converter, or if anything I'll throw a new stocker in there. I'm never gonna launch under power, that is a recipe to break something, so a higher stall means nothing to me. And there are stock converter mustangs in the 9's, so the stocker is plenty strong. My goal for the truck was an 11.4, and I'm there...I'm calling her finished with maybe a trans rebuild to correct the 3-4 shift flare.
If I do the rebuild, I plan on providing the installer the Exedy stage 2 clutches and billet intermediate shaft, plus any necessary replacement items. That'll run me about $1200 in parts plus their labor cost of $1600. The big kicker here is they are taking out and putting the transmission back in, leaving me with minimal downtime. I looked into Circle D, but they are in houston and their quote is for a bench rebuild and freight shipping is outrageous. IF...and this is a big IF, I do a rebuild it'll be through a local performance shop that specializes in hopped up Mustangs. They've cracked open plenty of 6r80's.
As it is I'm waiting till parts go on sale closer to Black Friday...the Exedy kit should be 10% through Beefcake. I'm also debating on getting a Whipple kit on sale, and slapping it on a 2019 Bullitt that's listed for a steal locally. I also found a GT500 (trinity) in amazing condition nearby as well. Honestly I'm just having a hard time justifying the full cost of a rebuild on a vehicle I know will be gone in a year to make room for my next project. I might as well just get rid of his now...

I don't daily mine, but I regret not getting a converter much sooner. Mine's a 3B and a bit on the looser side I would say. You will lose a bit of city MPG. It's so much snappier off the line though. I couldn't see myself not doing one if I was already doing trans work. If you're truly planning on getting out of the truck now/soon I wouldn't even mess with a trans rebuild. Just demod/detune it and get rid of it.

I'm really happy with my Circle D. 265mm 2500-2700 stall. You know it's there and really seems to shine when your accelerating aggressively. My trans temps are lower towing too, probably because I stuck to stock stall range.

Who is recommended to rebuild a 6R80? This is my first Ford and I need to build up my list of contacts.
-PBH says their parts can make a 6R80 good for 1000+hp
As for the stall, if I were already in the tranny, I would totally do it as the cost is very little for the upgrade and the performance aspects can be quite nice.

Why dump $3k on a tranny rebuild if you're planning to get rid of the truck within a year? Especially if the daily driving is perfectly fine.
If you decide to keep it, spend the money, build it with a converter and enjoy for a couple more years. If not then ride it out until you're ready to jump ship.
