Back when pd blowers were 35-60% efficient, limited to 500 hp, and everyone had big displacement 2-valve engines, I was a big proponent of centris. They were 70+% efficient, would support 700+ hp, and would give the poorly breathing engines the top-end power they were lacking. However, now that we have 75% efficient pd blowers that will support over 1000 hp and engines that breath to 7500 rpm stock, I see no advantage in a centri except maybe ease of installation.

Guys. Why can’t I ask about procharger setups? I read the whipple thread to get perspective. Same with Roush, turbo, etc.

Please if your comment is to knock the blower that isn’t what you are using Stay out of the thread.

I’ve used both...several times. Used centrifugals as far back as the late 80’s on Fox body cars and as recently as a few years ago on a truck. Whipple FTW on a heavy street truck...hands down better day to day drivability.

could the high compression these engines have help sway to the centri's advantage? since knock is less of an issue at higher rpms and the 10 speed keeps you at higher rpms when racing. It just seems to me like the positive displacement setup would be fighting to keep timing in check on the lower rpms. I did read the article on the procharger on the 2018 mustang that made 850 to the tires on e85. I would like to see what the whipple will put down on e85 and similar fuel upgrades.

8-10lbs of boost will really make some great power and these newer engines!

I logged a pull and mine was actually adding 3 deg of timing in the mid range and subtracting 1 up top.

Kids these days come along and think it’s normal to make 800-1000 rwhp reliably with a bolt-on supercharger, fuel system, and exhaust. You used to make 450 rwhp with those mods and break it within a month!
