Bad news, got a phone call from Teambeefcakeracing.com with info from Kooks saying the 2015-2017 Y-pipe doesn't fit the 2018 - hits the cross member or something like that.
So I will continue with the header install til they point and wait for the new Y-pipe to arrive next week.
Good news is I got a call before I got to that part of the install, that's a first in 20 years of aftermarket parts purchases.

whipple says the tested and never felt the issue, but they have 3.55 gears in there trucks and the lower gearing might pass right over the 1-2 shift and go straight to the 1-3 shift.
if you just accelerate faster it never happens. But the areas I drive you drive really slow with lots of stop signs.
in the real world the only place I experience it is parking lots.

I'm new to the forums and I have a couple questions. I just picked my truck up last week from getting the Whipple installed at the dealer and I couldn't be happier. This truck replaced a Supercharged Toyota Tundra and it has A LOT more power and the 10 speed is great.
1. I read the comments about air in the coolant and I was wondering if the coolant should be up the the full line on the reservoir when cold. The dealer said as long as you can see the coolant above the full line while the engine is running it's fine.
2. Has anyone looked into the ID Motorsports tune? I'm waiting for them to email me the details on what was changed.
I have experienced the odd 1-2 shift in a parking lot once and an odd 5-6 once. Most of the time when driving normal it skips from 1 to 3. I have contacted Whipple to let them know so hopefully that will help get this issue resolved.

Number 2: DO NOT BUY THE ID MOTORSPORTS TUNE. There is a member Brand you is trying them out - if he has good luck with the tune it might be worth looking into.
I purchased the ID Motorsports tune, loaded it and the truck would barely run. it had major problems (extremely high idle, bad shifts, stalling, long crank times, ac wont blow cold at idle, major lean condition driving down the road, Their tuner Matt didnt seem that interested in finding out what the problem was and recommended that I go back to the Whipple tune if I was happy with that.
So I did just that and ran like hell away from their tune and now I'm fighting to get my $950 back (they refused to refund me)

Number 1: Top off the intercooler coolant - every morning before you start it for 10 days - you will be amazed at how much air is trapped in the system

With all due respect to TX Ripper, my 2016 is tuned by ID Motorsports and runs flawlessly. I won’t try to speak on his experiences with them, that’s between them. I will say that after 15+ years of tuning vehicles and even being in the industry for several years, sometimes there’s just bridges that can’t be crossed via email. ID’s customer service has been exemplary for me since 2004.

but he has an 18 and as of right now there are no 18s with experience running the tune to speak up except me and I tell it how it is.
lets see how brands truck does before giving them any more money.

I just received another RSF recovery file from ID Motorsports today and it fails to load onto the BDX just like the first file that was sent. The BDX is married to the truck and prior to the Whipple install was used to install a 5 Star tune so I know that it is good. Very Frustrating.
