This is all very interesting!

I couldn't get a solid answer from tuners. What does everyone think about running an SCT x4 on these trucks vs. HP Tuners? I went with the x4 because I already have the device. Saved a fair amount of money.

Think I'm missing out on a substantial amount of power? My truck seems to run darn good on the 5Star 94 octane performance tune, but I don't want to sell myself or the truck short.

Gen2 2018 trucks HO/raptor/base 3.5 have all the same turbos. The 18 and raptor even have the same part number this time around

They did this because the 17 trucks were hitting turbocharger RPM design limits at altitude and that's not good for longevity.
Is this for sure? The part numbers are slightly different.

non HO left is: JL3Z-6K682-C
HO Left is:JL7Z-6K682-A

Also, I can't quite tell, but the Gen 2 turbos in the parts diagram look to have the same manifold flange and gasket as the Gen 1. Will they bolt right up assuming you can figure out how to convert the actuator to vacuum?

There's 2 main differences. but these are for sure the only differences.

1.) the Raptor exhaust turbine wheel alloy is Mar-M super alloy
2.) the Raptor turbos do not have "turbo adapters" because the way the raptor exhaust is it bolts straight to the turbo

So, if buying downpipes for a regular 3.5, would it make sense to buy the Raptor downpipes and remove the adapter? I realize that would also require changing to the Raptor cat-back, but maybe it's worth the effort?

So quick update for those that might still be curious. Got the E50 Tune from MPT, flashed it and then drove home, gave it a little time to adapt to the new tune, drove to work the following AM, gotta say this is a great file out of the box. still need to log it and send a few runs over to MPT but noticeable difference from the 91 MPT tune. going to E50 is like going from stock to 91 octane but only better. Wish I had Dyno numbers to show, maybe one of the days... the torque is greatly improved I can say that for sure, feels like no lag at all on throttle inputs, will have to see if traction control will stay off now. the first few times I stomped on it after initial flash the traction control light came on, since then it has stopped. gotta watch your throttle inputs with this file cause you can light those rear tires up very easily and with as light as an *** end on these aluminum body's you can get into trouble real fast. this truck literally pulls like a freight train, I work in Denver so 5K ft elevation and then live at 8K ft, this truck has NO problem with altitude at all. even drove it from denver to grand junction and even at 11K feet or so it still wants to rip. I would have to say MPT spent some time on this E50 file, it's pretty dam good right out of the box.

P.S. there are NO E85 stations at all in Grand Junction.

What kind of airflow are you getting at those altitudes? My 2014 is choking out at ~39 lb/min at 6500', stock tune will push them to 36 lbs, so my tunes barely make any more than stock. But thats just the stock turbos. Curious how the new ones do at altitude.

I thought the issue with the EB was that it doesn't come with the ethanol sensor like the flex-fuel engines do. Can that be added now? I know I have seen FFV tables in HP Tuners but was told they didnt do anything.

no ethanol sensor, its infered logic based on lambda reading...

The reason its not done often, is the learning is slow and its a pain to calibrate correctly.

why would the tuners want to offer something that could damage your engine and get blamed for it.

Not too bad. I still wonder what my truck would have made dynoing in 6th gear and turning on the dyno to load the truck properly. It made 488 how it sat, i think with the truck in 6th and the inertia loading turned on it would have made about 510.
