My point was that if caught using it they would screw your warranty. Taking it off and hiding it is different than saying it doesn't void the warranty....
But the ecu does record running info (including boost) that could be examined if a major failure occured. If they see higher boost it could be your lawyer against 100 of theirs. They know these devices are out there. Like I said removing it is different than saying using it couldn't affect your warranty....caught using it may affect it. |
It won't be, wastegate could've gotten stuck shut. Honestly i know you're trying to convince people about this, but you're talking to the wrong guy about it. A piggyback is 100% untraceable, and they absolutely won't know if something happened that you were using it.

I wonder how many people are running this afe scorcher in their ecoboost trucks? I have heard great things and others saying it will blow your engine or at a least get a lean condition.
I wish I could here from more people who have this device. Thanks OP |

I agree with that, the stock sensors would throw you into limp mode before any major damage could occur.
but just my thought. I wish I had the cash laying around to try one.. and I would let you know |

Perhaps I'm not understanding it correctly but I tend to agree especially if your running cheap fuel with a piggyback because you are effectively tricking the engine controls. As long though as it doesn't "Trick" the O2 sensor or the knock sensor then it would probably be safe.

Wow, this is not hard to understand at all fellas. If I have any problem with my truck I'll remove it. I had 87 fuel in the truck when I brought it to them. They told me it was safe on any octane but might perform better with 91. Has anyone else with a tune running higher boost had a problem yet? I believe there are tons of people with actual tunes running much higher boost levels than what this thing puts out. The piggyback, as I've been told, will match with the proper fuel/air ratios so not to run lean and explode the motor. I'm not certain why there is so much hate about this unit. I get to keep my warranty, unlike the actually tuned guys. It seems to work well and it's cheap (free for me). I posted this so people would know first-hand experience without having to read hearsay. I can't find one listing on Google for an actual blown motor using one of these units. I'm pretty sure if they have happened it would be searchable. Please send links to said blown motor posts using this system. I'd like to read them. For all of you guys doubting on this unit, what's your experience with them? I'm fairly sure you don't have any period.

Nobody else is running just a tune that only allows for more boost, because the other tunes adjust fueling and ignition timing to be safe. It sounds like your tune isn't a tune but more of a boost controller that manipulates the wastegate to stay closed more, generate more boost. I have enough turbo experience to know that messing with boost without adjusting anything else can be risky, and doing so on pisswater 87 octane is substantially more risky. In short, i'd never do it.

Well the stock ecu tune has parameters for ignition timing at higher levels of boost, but that's only if it knows that it's actually running more boost, which it's possible it doesn't think so.
