Default What sensor is this??

1996 f-150 4.9 I6 4x4
think it’s the cam position sensor but I’m at a loss…. Fan clutch replacement turned radiator turned water pump replacement… and now thermostat.

i was having trouble getting the water pump out (hose was fused on) and thought id just remove this sensor so I didn’t snap it… and snapped the bolt like butter… and then, the second bolt…. Because I’m a moron… and one snapped bolt is still keeping it out but I need to remove it and thinking I may need to replace it. What is it?? Any specs on the bolts I broke? There seems to be another bracket I could remove (I really don’t want to….)

it seems like the right side of the sensor is still well attached… looks like the replacement part is only one screw anyways… if I leave it then it could be fine, minus not being able to put the protective cover back on

any words of wisdom are appreciated….

I'm not that familiar with that engine but that's usually where crank sensors are located.

Default Thanks!

That’s my guess…. The autozone part looked 99% similar. Ordered once in case this fails but the right side still seems pretty tight… I’d have to snap the plastic to get it or take the main engine pulley off… neither of which I want to do…

Make sure you spray the back side of these bolts with lots of spray (PB Nut Blaster or similar, not WD-40), let it sit for 5 minutes and spray again to give yourself the best shot at getting these bolts out intact, Backside seems to be accessible from photo but if not, spray front side.

That's your misfire sensor.
