Default What hose is this? cannot identify

I was under the bed of my truck and I saw this loose hose, is this normal?
2002 ford f150 supercab manual transmission 6 cylinder

It fits almost perfectly with this other piece that seems to have broken off?

Should I just reattach it? There is enough length.

I'm concerned as to what it is, since a broken hose tends to cause problems. It has rained a lot lately

That is the vent hose for the rear differential and yes it broke off that fitting in the pic, replace it with a new section of hose and clip it back to the frame rail where it was originally put from the factory.

This and make sure the tube you connect it back onto isn't plugged. If it's plugged you'll end up with leaking pinion seal or axle seals. You don't necessarily need a new hose as long as the old one can reach, also make sure you can blow through it. New hose is always nice though

As it was said its the axle vent line. Its goes up to the body to prevent water from getting into it if you drive through deep water. You can cut the broken piece off the axle, make sure the hole isnt plugged and reattach the hose back to it. If the hose is falling apart replace it.
