Default Vacuum Pump Noisy

Hey guys,

I have a 2012 FX4. I started getting the dreaded loud vacuum pump noise. So I shelled out the $300 and replaced it. The only thing is, it’s still louder then it used to be. Could anything else be causing the vacuum pump to make such a loud running noise? I’m really surprised the new Dorman unit isn’t that much quieter then the old FoMoCo one. Any suggestions?

i just had all the rotors, pads, and calipers replaced recently. Could that be the cause of something since they all have vacuum lines?

Probably should have used a Ford part in that situation.

You think it would be worth me getting one from a dealer and swapping it out? Or are vacuum pumps just noisy in general?

Final Update on this one. Bought 2 Dorman pumps off of Amazon because I heard they had a "new and improved" design to help with noise. Not so. Quieter, but still louder than normal. So I checked with the dealer. Had been hesitant because I heard they were $500 plus dollars through a dealer. Got it for $250. Cheaper than Amazon. Put it in, a good bit quieter then even the Dorman's. Also came with a replacement vacuum hose. So I'm calling it done. I can still hear the pump if i listen for it, but its not in your face like it was before the replacement. So I am chalking it up to being a normal noise now that I just didn't pay attention to before. Thanks JCR for that recommendation.
