Don't drop the tank, raise the bed it's much easier.
Take all the bolts out on the passenger side and loosen to all but 2 or 3 threads on the driver side, that way you can raise the bed with a floor jack and a 2x4 from the passenger side and not have to worry about the filler pipe or wiring harness to the rear lights. Chock the bed once lifted with a few 2x4's or a 4x4 block or what ever you have, don't want the bed to slip and smash you while your between the bed and frame rails.
That's how we did it at the dealer.
