Default Truck doesn't start

Hey guys, new here and I have a lengthy problem I need help with. Here's the story: I have a 2013 XLT with 132K miles. I'm getting ready to pick up my new truck tomorrow, looked at it yesterday. Over the last couple of months, my truck has died on me (battery; once was my fault (left something on) second was not. The second time it died, the truck sat for about 1.5 week, i started it one day and drove it a short distance and put back in my driveway. I went to start it the next day and it was dead, had to jump start it. So I figured my battery was shot. Since then (this was on Father's Day) truck worked with no issues, I began using it daily again. Fast forward to yesterday; I went under agreement on a newer truck. Before I could take ownership, I needed to take all my lights out of the current one (I"m a first responder). I worked on this last night, door was open, cab lights were on and every time I opened/closed a door the marker lights lit up. I removed all my emergency lights in about 1.5 hours. I opened the driverside door, doom light came on, put the key in the ignition, heard 2 or 3 clicks then nothing. Now all lights don't work. My neighbor came over today and we replaced the battery with a store bought from NAPA, cheapest one since I'm trading in the truck. Still, nothing. All fuses are powered, it's not a dead battery (checked it) but still absolutely nothing. We read through the manual and under maintenance it states when you replace a battery, the truck needs to "sleep" for 8 hours. I've never heard that before. Does anyone have any suggestions? 8 hour sleep time true? I need help because I was supposed to turn in this truck tomorrow at 1pm for my new one and I"m bummed hard about this. Any help is appreciative. Thank you for reading the long post

I know you sId you checked the new battery, but how did you check it? Have you tried jumping it?

had same issue,2 dead batteries in 2 days with same truck,no coincidence.i checked most fuses, not relays.checked alternator, its good.if i were you, have alternator tested.if good, maybe you have a short somewhere (radios on,dome/map lights on but bulbs no good, bad relay, bad fuses).you have a newer model, check wires on camera in rear.one guy found that to be the problem.
