Default trasmission problems

I have a 2004 crewcab 4x4 with a 5.4 and my overdrive snap ring broke so I watched a few vids and read a lot of write ups on it so I decided to do it myself and it was super easy to change out but now that I have done this my trans is now having a different problem and I was wondering if I did something wrong putting it back together all the shifter locations are for drive but I only have 1 and 2 gear and it wont go down to manual 1 and second if any of that Is understandable lol would love some help on this

It sound like you may have not located the shifting shaft properly during reassembly. If I'm not mistaken it should have been in the neutral position when the valve body was installed. If the cam is out of position you won't be able to move it to manually downshift. Good news is it can be adjusted through the pan by removing the valve body w/o removing the tranny. Good luck

that is what my problem was I took it apart this morning and say that I didn't have it set right with the shifter but after putting it all back together I still have no Overdrive so I am thinking that I didn't get all the parts from the overdrive snap ring out of the valvebody so in the next few days when it warms up I am going to take it apart and completely go through the valvebody and see what is still in it

Default OD missing in action

I did mine on my 05 this weekend and I did the same thing as you, took it apart and fixed it but now I am getting a trans fault warning and the OD light on the dash is flashing. I think I must have hooked up the electrical connection bridge thing wrong or something.
Shifts really hard in to 2nd and really really hard into OD now. Its sitting until I can get too it again this weekend. Not really sure what I hooked up wrong this time, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Carr2ne

What I have read online is if u r getting a fault warning then the connection bridge is either not fully connected or its cracked and when u took yours apart did u find any pieces of the snap ring in the valve body

Took it apart again today and it was the bridge, I did not have it pushed in all the way on one connection. I did find the piece in the valve body. It is now running but shifting weird, It feels as if it is slipping in and out of gear, checked fluids and I may have too much fluid in it.. Now what?
