Hi guys, noobie to the forum. Swapping my trans in my 92 XLT 150. Auto with OD (with 240000 miles lol). Bought a good used one out of a 90 F150 standard cab cheap (100000 miles for 150 bux). I got the old one out and saw the shift linkage shafts are different. Was wondering are they interchangeable? Can I take them apart and swap them? I am sure they are the same trans (4 pin plug, placement of speedo) but i was hoping one of you guys would have some experience with this. Thanks!

 

As long as the throw of the new linkage is the same you can swap them. Put the truck in park scribe the location on the trans, then shift the truck to D1 or low and mark it again. Swap the linkage and do the same thing again. If the marks match you're good to go.
