Tranny Question
I am new to the Ford F150 but so far love mine. I have a question however.
I have a 06 Lariat SCAB 5.4L 2WD. I know that I need to replace my spark plugs due to the fact that I get a #2 misfire engine code and bad shudder to go with if I get to full throttle. If I keep it in the low RPM range it runs fine at all speeds. That is going to get fixed as soon as my lisle tool arrives.
However, to the point...I have noticed that at around 45 MPH I get a hard "banging" in the truck. Almost like the tranny can't decide what gear to be in and it is going back and forth VERY hard. It accelerates fine and does fine at all speeds except for right around there. I have checked the fluid and it is serviced properly. It is not blacked or burned like you would see from a trans that needs rebuilt(I have done a couple of those), but looks like it is due for a change(according to the service manual it is). My question is could this be caused by the low grade misfire or am I looking at a rebuild? Could this be due to the service being due on it? If I do need to do a rebuild what upgrades should I be looking at doing to assure I get more then 80,000 miles out of it the second time?
Any info would be a GREAT help. Sorry if it's an obvious answer but a long time Chevy guy that WON'T buy another especially after driving my F150.

Hello everybody this is my 2nd post. So here is the info 92 F150 Flareside with 187 K miles. For the first start of the day, when I put the truck into reverse the RPM dips, sometimes comes close to cutting off and then gets back up. I checked the transmission fluid it seems to be at a good level, the color is a darker dull orange/red. Here is a youtube link to what I'm talking about. I greatly appretiate any help anyone can give. Thanks

Just an update. Got my plugs changed yesterday. Two hours to replace. Got lucky and all 8 came right out. They were in TERRIBLE shape and seem to def be giving me the trans headache. So far she is running smooth and I can't seem to get it to duplicate the same problems as before. Looks like the low grade misfire was the culprit.
