So I was driving down the road the other day and all of a sudden the off drive light started flashing. As I came to a red light everything still seemed fine. I started driving again and then I noticed it, every time the truck goes to switch into gear it literally bangs each each. But the truck continues to shift into over drive so my questions are

1. why is the overdrive light flashing?

2. what could be causing the tranny it shift as hard as it is?

Btw, not it does it pretty much every time I get into the truck but it doesnt start right away it starts after ive been driving for several miles.

Got it fixed. It ended up being the speed sensor in the rear end. Cleared the code reset the truck and all is good again.
