Ticking Noise

take a mechanics stethoscope. Disconnect the amplifier assembly (at the bottom of the tube that comes from the y piece) and listen through the tube to pin point where the noise is coming from.

Thanks for suggestions, I'll check into them. If it helps, it is louder sometimes and other times not as noticeable. I can hear it best in the wheel wells. I got some audio, I'll have to try and get that on here.

If it is in fact the lash adjusters, how urgent is it that I have them replaced and how can I make sure? I need to get an oil change soon and I believe that someone said it would be quieter after I change the oil, is this true?

2002 5.4 don't have cam phasers but I've seen both broken exhaust studs and loose spark plugs do this

Really, well that's good news. I thought I read somewhere else though that Ford fixed the spark plug problem in 2002. I guess I'm back to exhaust studs then.
