For Those Chasing "Check Fuel Filler Inlet"...

Take a look under the driver side skid plate (if equipped) and verify the condition/connections of the charcoal canister. I was treated to this find only after intermittently chasing the issue for about a year. Only reason it was discovered is that I lowered the truck and pulled the plates to reduce weight.
Completely sheared at off the body. Truck was never wheeled offroad on anymore than a fire lane. Absolute mystery. Replacement charcoal cans aren't even made by Ford anymore, and existing examples fetch a hefty price. Repaired with fuel tubing and epoxy for 15 bucks.
