Default Temperature high

Hi guys I have a 96 f-150 straight six I replaced me radiator a few months ago but when I start driving it sky rockets I didn't replace the thermostat

I would replace the thermostat first because it is such a cheap fix and easy. Then if that doesn't fix it I would start looking at perhaps a water pump issue

Your lower radiator hose may be collapsing as well when it heats up.It should have an internal spring with the new one to stop this.
