Default Temp Gauge Question

Howdy All,

I just picked up the 89 F150 Lariat. I replaced the temp gauge sending unit a few days ago because the gauge was staying on cold. The temp now reads in the normal section of the gauge when driving and is steady. I noticed that the temp gauge does not go back to cold when I shut the truck off. it seems to go down as the engine cools. Is this normal or should it go back to cold when the engine is shut off?

Thanks,

Russ
