my 2005 f150 xlt rear taillights have started coming on by themselves. Only the rear. I park and all lights go off normally. Next morning I come out and the rear brake (?) lights are on. Dunno how long they were on but they were definitely off previous evening when I parked. ONLY the rear lights so I assum it is brake lights.
Update... this morning the lights were on again...so I walked toward rear of truck and they went off magically! didnt touch anything! as I got closer they came on again....
Thought it might be a wonky brake pedal switch but return spring seems good and lights operate properly on a slight pedal depression.

Can anyone suggest a next step ??
