Default Swapping motors

Alright I have a 2009 f150 with a 2v 4.6 in it.. has anyone or does anyone know how much of a pain it would be to either swap a 3v 4.6 or a 5.0 into my truck? In guessing all sensors are different plugs and everything is totally different but if I have to replace my motor I might as well try and upgrade

I imagine the 5.0 is a very challenging swap, since it is a separate line of engines. If you're looking to upgrade, why not look into a 5.4? It will be challenging.

Here's a thread about that matter: http://www.f150online.com/forums/art...wap-notes.html

Another discussing more generally swapping: http://www.f150online.com/forums/v8-...4-6-5-4-a.html

One last thread centering on 4.6 to 5.0: http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...-possible.html

The consensus seems to be that it's not worth the money. When upgrading these engines most people seem to think you would also need to change out the transmission.

In total, the biggest is issue is the price. It will cost significantly more to get all the wiring, mounts, headers, and possibly transmission along with the engine. This may not apply as much if you do your own work.

If you are really dying for a 5.0 or 4.6 3v or other upgrade, you're probably better off buying a whole truck to drive (or salvage). The transfer is always easier when you have an entire donor truck with any parts you would need.
