Unhappy Stuck like chuck

Heres the deal, the actuator inside my steering column is apparently broken. When i turn the key it goes to far and it doesnt start. I know the cylinder is fine, and I know that the ignition switch if fine, because I can start it with a screw driver. But now the shifter is stuck in park, I can barely get it to grab reverse, but the lock is still engaged apparetly not letting me shift. My brake lights work, my fuses are fine, the truck will start but Im guessing that because the actuator inside the steering column is broken and not letting me start it it undoubtedly is connected to the shift lock somehow. Please help me I work out of my truck and it is my life blood!

I may be wrong about this but, I believe the brake switch also must be released to shift. Check your brake light switch and make sure all connectors are in good shape.
