Its a plug from the factory to keep crap outta the trans till the dipstick is installed. You can leave it out.

Kinda cool though now you know this is the first time the pan has been dropped.

It's a plug installed in the factory for some reason. Have found them in the past in two of my new trucks. U can throw it away as it is not necessary.

Those F***ers at the ford dealership lol. When i brought the truck a year and a half ago with 88K miles on it, i asked them to flush the transmission out for me and was told by the time the paperwork was complete that it was complete. Well i guess they never did it. :/

You don't have to remove the pan to flush the tranny, it's a machine you hook inline with the cooler lines that forces new fluid in and old fluid out, however. They should have dropped the pan to at least change the filter first.

Very first time I did a tranny filter change and found that plug I freaked out and the senior guys in the shop had a ball making me sweat bullets thinking I did something wrong.

Truth is as already stated it's just a plug they stick in the hole to keep junk out until the last step of production when they stab the dipstick in and seal the trans.

You may have a new filter but the luber goober was scared to remove it thinking it was some kind of floating sensor.

if the filter wasn't changed you don't need to drop the pan for a flush. kinda like changing the oil without changing the filter though
