Default Strange Noise When Accelerating

Hey Team,

I have a 2007 F-150 XLT 4x4 Supercrew with about 142K miles on it. Last night it started to make a noise that I've never heard before from my truck let alone any other vehicle. I would say the noise is very similar to the noise a Cicada or maybe a Rattle Snake makes. The noise only happens under acceleration and stops immediately when I lift. I verified there was no heat shield contact with the exhaust, the u-joints look fine and are firm, and there is no fluid around the transmission or differential. I did find a thread about Fords IWE system making a very similar noise, but I have no issues going in and out of 4WD, however, the noise does go away when the truck is in 4WD. As soon as I put it back into 2WD the noise returns. Has anyone here ever experienced this, or any good tips on where I should start to tshoot?

Thanks!

yes, you have a vacuum leak or bad check valve, possibly failed IWE solenoid in your
IWE system

Thanks greasyknucks! I'm not familiar with Fords IWE system. Any tips on where the most common point of failure is?

I just changed my Iwe solenoid last week due to same problem $20.00 part on amazon and took 10min. to replace it.Fixed my problem...if you drive it as is, it might screw up the hub...or you might have a melted vacuum line down by the engine, due to heat.Check out youtube on this..

most common is the solenoid, but to be sure test the vacuum lines including the check
valves. a little hand vacuum pump tester is all you need.
