Default Steering issues

97 F-150

A year or so ago I had to replace the power steering pump as the shaft broke between the pump and the pulley. Today I noticed the truck steering is not normal. Pump is full of fluid and does not appear to be running hot. The steering wheel is hard to turn both directions. It feels as if the pump is pumping intermently. Hard and soft spots. Any suggestions?

Check for loose steering box mounting bolts and binding in the steering components. Also check the steering column mounting brackets and bolts.

Use lucas high temp red grease. Get you good handfull of it and litterally press it into the knuckle. Don't be shy with it either. After pressing it in, turn your steering wheel back and forth and then go back and grease it again. Do this at least three times and see if it doent free it up.

Check your belt, it may be slipping.
