Starting Problem
Got a 2003 F-150 85K mile 4.2 L V-6. I developed a starting problem for about the last year. The truck starts but dies after about 3 sec. At times the truck will lope at 500 - 600 rpm and if I give it gas it dies. After 6 - 9 attempts the truck gets over this hump and runs fine. Acceleration is good so not a fuel filter problem. There are no codes and the fuel press prior to start is 38 psi and 40 after start. It only does this on the first start of the day or a long off time and it is getting worse. I noticed if I pump the accelerator she sometimes starts better. Since it is fuel injection pumping does nothing except exercises the throttle sensors.
Any suggestions out there from the PROs?
Thanks
