Starting issue
Occasionally, when I try to start my '99 F-150, 4.2 L I get nothing, It's like a bad spot on the starter but sometimes when I put it in Neutral or pull back on the shifter and it'll start and it will start by jumping the solenoid. The truck does have over 223K miles and I care for it regularly. I'm thinking there might be a short in the column (starter switch?). Anybody experience anything like this? It seems to be happening almost daily and getting very frustrating. It'll start up after a couple hour reprieve. Any advise or leads will be greatly appreciated...

i have a 02 7700 and occasionally have the same problem. i haven,t found the problem, but my thoughts were that the sensor that tells the truck its in park might be going out. just a thought dont know not for sure.
its the theft system they have on these trucks everyones i no does it. its just that sometimes your theft system wont turn off after your key is turned on at least thats what ive found, you can turn your key on and listen for the click then start. my 2000 has it but my 97 doesnt...
