Default Starter randomly doesn't work?

I have a 2002 5.4 liter f150. Twice in the last two months when I go to start it, it won't turn over at all. I hear a click and then nothing. After a few minutes the problem usually resolves itself. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Typical symptoms of a starter with dead spots on the rotor. As Joe mentioned make sure the battery/connections are good first. When it happens tap the starter with a hammer to move the rotor. If it starts you have your answer.

Don't forget to clean the starter connections too.
