Just put a new alternator in yesterday, truck started but died when i would come to a complete stop and start back up when i turned it over. Now it wont even start, i just get the same click noise i had before??? 1997 F150

 

It sounds like the new (or rebuilt) alternator is not providing a charge. The decreasing voltage at idle causes the engine to die, and later not start at all. Check the install, connections, battery connections, test and charge the battery. If this was a rebuilt or even new alternator, if it isn't charging return for a replacement. Thankfully these are an easy and quick removal and replacement.

 

Thanks alot, i just tried a new starter too and got the same thing?? Could it really b the alternator? I had the battery tested and it was fine, my terminals arent the best but its ran off them for almost 2 yrs now
