Default Shocks, etc.

Good evening, ladies and gents! I'm new here and new to the scene, so I apologize if my questions are a little amateur.

I recently purchased a 2007 FX4. It has a 6inch lift and man other accessories. It needed new tires and some other stuff, so I took it to a buddy's shop and had some work done to it. The previous owner had 37 inch Terra Grapplers, and they had 20%ish tread left on them. I replaced them with some 35's for better fitment. I got the truck fully inspected and had the alignment done. My buddy told me that my rear shock's need to be replaced and that it was a job that did not need to be done at the shop since I can do it in my driveway. Also, they said that my front tie rods needed to be replaced soon.

So to get to my questions. #1: Has anyone done a review on the Rancho RS9000XL shocks? I'm looking into these. Does anyone have any other suggestions for rear shocks?

#2: Tie rods. Anything special I need to know about these?

And for the third and final nub question: Does anyone have any suggestions on HIDs? The truck has halo headlights, but they do not have HIDs. I would like to install HID and LED lights on the truck all around.

/nub out.

Thanks in advance!

Also, if I'm in the wrong section, please let me know.

iVic, you might get more info in the year section of forum. E.g., '04-'08, etc.

For number one I've heard pretty good things about those ranchos, haven't personally used them but I haven't really seen anything bad on them. Another shock to possibly consider would be the bilstein 5100's.

For number two, be careful doing those tie rods if you do them yourself. Make sure you mark how far the others were threaded on or you might be back getting another alignment.

For number three, I wouldn't recommend hids in halogen housings, it can cause excessive glare and you don't really get a good beam pattern. I'd suggest doing a retrofit if your budget allows for it.

Hope this helps some!
