Just put a rag around the fitting and take the fuel filter off, it's not gonna fly off on pivot anything just a little **** of fuel and the rag will catch it

Remove splash shield on the left frame rail which is under the drivers door. Disconnect fuel pump electrical connecter. Start engine allow to idle until it stalls. After stalling crank engine for another 5 seconds to release pressure in fuel rail. Turn ignition off and disconnect battery. That's what my haynes manual says to do.

Good luck hope it helps.

If you examine the fuel injector rail on the driver's side of the engine, you should be able to locate a fitting with a cap on it. Remove the cap and there is a schrader valve (just like a bicycle tire). Press the core and catch the fuel that sprays out with a rag. Commence changing the fuel filter.
