Default Sad day

I bought my 2008 f150 supercrew new in January of 2008. I have had no problems with this truck since I have owned it. As of 2 days ago I thought I would be nice to my truck and replace the spark plugs. The truck had a very slight miss but so slight that the average person would probably not notice it. I only had 57K on the plugs. I unfortunatly bought the autolite iridiums. Installed them, took 2.5 hours as I was taking my time and had nothing to rush for. Got done and holy cow, it was missing, the engine light came on and it was just plain horrible. Jumped on line and did what I should have done in the first place, read that autolites do not mix well with most fords. I took them dudes out, returned them and bought motorcraft sp493, which is a platinum plug but is supposed to be okay for a replacement for the sp413. Since I knew what I was doing this time it took me 45 minutes to replace them.. Still a misfire. I took the Primary Ohm Resistance:0.5boots off, got the multimeter out and all coils read the same, primary resistence in ohm 0.5, secondary resistence in ohm 5500. I also cleaned the coils where the spring attaches and made sure there was a good connection. I am not 100 percent sure but I really tried to make sure the boot was on the plug, to me there was know way of knowing. Anyway got it all back together still misfiring. I looked for anything unplugged etc.. So the first time I had to take my truck to the shop since I have had it..

Well the shop finally called back after having the truck for almost an hour, seems that the wiring to one of the injectors was causing the problem. It was shorted out. 45 minutes of shop labor. I am a happy camper again..

shoot, that should be a HAPPY DAY, not a sad one. 45 min of shop labor time is nothing compared to what it could have been. a bad injector could have hydrolocked your 57k mile engine. you should be thankful it was nothing serious.

Everything worked out great and inexpensive. next time something like this happens I will have learned something and think about where to look. All is well that ends well.

Sounds like you have a very honest shop in your area.

You know I was scared to death because I have not taken a vehicle to the shop in over 5 years. I knew noone around here except for a Cadillac dealership that I used to be a service writer at. Well I wouldnt let that place work on my dead dog much less a cadillac and most certainly not my ford.

I called one particular place and they said that we do a free diagnostic, free estimate and then you decide what you need. I was pleased and will go back there in the future.
