Just recently bought my 2020 f150 4x4. Let me preface by saying this truck was super clean, and well taken care of. It was exactly what I was looking for, and at 4 years old had less than 40k miles. That being said, I got tunnel vision and never looked under the vehicle. I took it to get a leveling kit, and the technician had problems with rust.
I really need to know if this is concerning. Also, i have been researching on removal of the rust, but is it worth it or is it even possible? I think its just surface rust, but should i try and remove it then protect it? Suggestions?
It's also on some bolts, as you see... any way to remove the rust from the bolts? It concerns me because the hitch bolts are rusted and I am wanting to pull a camper.
I'm not very mechanically inclined, but i am trying my best to take care of her... just need some help! Thanks in advance! Hitch bolts.

il guessing you must not be in rust belt?
i would ask the tech for a more detailed explanation of his concerns (is he declining work, or just commenting on rust)?
fine “repair geek” on YouTube, watch his rust and undercoating videos. Many other YT videos out there too.
if youre not mechanically inclined...I would get over that real fast and start wire brushing/coating that can convert the rust. The fasteners can be easily replaced or sprayed with penetrant.
Find a quality creeper because you are going to be on your back for a while.with that mess. I hope by "level" kit you didnt buy a puck.
It took me about 5 hours to detail the underneath of my truck and I purchased it new. In a few years that would pay dividends if you keep the mileage low...
The technician had to replace the sway bar bolts due to not being able to get them back on because the rust. I will certainly check the YouTube out. And I'm I'm NC, so not very salty with the exception of occasional salt on roads and beach trips.
I will definitely get under it with a wire brush i wasnt sure whether to use the rust converter, or a remover, and then the best products to finish it with to prevent further rusting from occuring.
