Default Rotors

Greetings,

I have a 2007 F150. The truck pulses pretty strongly when I brake, so I'm pretty sure my rotors are warped. I took it to Big O Tires to get them turned, and they said that they could not turn the front with their laith, but they could turn the rear. They'd have to replace the front rotors and it'd be about $450.00 total. I called the Ford dealership and they said they'd turn them for $140 per axel. I don't have the knowledge or tools to replace or turn them myself. Does anyone have any insight into the best option. Also, what's a reasonable price for getting rotors turned or replaced?

Thanks.

Make a few calls to local auto parts stores to find out if they turn rotors (you'll have to remove them and take them to the store). Get a price quote and time estimate. Next call local brake shops to determine who will turn them. Same as before, get price and time estimate. With the brake shops, get a quote for them doing all the work and just the turning if you bring the rotors in. After several calls, you'll have enough data to make a decision.

Well man, if they pulsate as badly as you say they are, id look at just having them replaced, you could try turning them (which down here in texas, most shops do it for less than 20 bucks a rotor) but chances are they will be under spec after you do so, in which case you'll just wind up having to replace them. I'm not sure on an exact price to replace them for your truck, but on mine its usually about 120 bucks to do the fronts, and i usually do pads as well, and the work myself. On the rear its about 95. id count on it being somewhere in the 100 dollar range for sure, and quite a bit more to have someone do it for you.
