Default Reverse lights not working

Alright lately it seems like one thing after another is breaking but anyway; my 97 4.6 V8 automatic f150 does not have working reverse lights. I have the regular ones as well as auxiliary ones tapped into my trailer wiring. Neither pair are working which tells me it ain't all blown bulbs etc. Fuse 5 is good. I was seeing people talking about a switch on the tranny causing it possibly.. Have any of you guys had any experience with this?

If the fuse is good and the bulbs are good then look for power going through the reverse switch if you have power (While gear selector is in reverse - motor off, park brake set and wheels chocked, ignition key in the run position) there then start tracing the wires at the lights back to where you find an open circuit, corroded connector etc.

Also check where the auxiliary back up lights are spliced in - chances are your problem is there.

Always check the easy obvious stuff first. Bulbs fuse etc.
