Resetting the PCM
I recently had a few problems a few days ago where my truck wouldn't start. Changed battery and took off the alternator off to have tested. Alt. was fine and truck was good to go with the new battery.
I then drove to fill the tank up and noticed my gas consumption was bad. Have a 03 f150 4.6l XLT 2wd. Normal gas milage is close to 16mpg. Now I'm now where near that. Used a half a tank driving only 117 miles. No engine light nothing however I did notice the trucks vibrations from running and noises were off from normal feel. A buddy stopped by and did a reset to the pcm and the used a scan tool. Code PO113 showed up. iat sensor was high. He had also then cleared the code without solving the problem. Question I have is since there was a reset to the pcm the truck is now rougher than ever and exhaust is terrible and thick at times, Should I drive for the pcm to relearn before taking it to the dealership hoping the iat corrects or just take it to a technician? I believe to much driving in this condition will eat up seals and what not causing more problems. Any one know anything about this? Thanks
