Rear Differential Fluid
So my parts store doesn't sell Motorcraft rear differential fluid. My question is, Can I safely use Royal Purple 75W-140 Full Synthetic oil as a replacement?

fill it with a mixture of gasoline, oil, and wood shavings. Works great.

No, I assumed this site was to help, discuss, and support other F150 owners! With almost 200 views, before my third post, I became concerned if I was in a worthwhile place to find answers to questions I have about issues with my truck. You sir have just shown me I am, in fact, in the wrong place! All I can say is, WOW! I have no patience for fools! Adios!

I agree with raski, this far and away the best forum for F150 owners. Not just because the format is easy to use but because the members are knowledgable and helpful, and freely offer their advice. I have accomplished many repairs that were only possible with the help from this sight. And thanks to you all for that.
To dafox; your question has no simple answer so a delay in a comprehensive answer is no surprise. First of all, using an aftermarket oil is a personal decision. As long as it meets the requirements for your vehicle it should fine but...
It it also depends on the type of differential your truck has. Limited slip differentials require a friction modifier additive. Using an additive that is not compatible with the after market oil would be bad. Might even damage your diff.
i recommend you determine which kind of differential you have and work from there. If you are sold on Royal Purple and you need a friction modifier then Royal Purple should be able to tell you what is compatible with their product.
and remember that patience is a virtue.
