Hello all,

this is another tick/click thread for the 5.4,

I have done a lot of reading today because my 07 F150 75xxx has a ticking noise coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. It only happens after 900rpm and I can’t really pin point when it settles down but definitely before 1500RPM.

Ive only owned the truck about 2 months now and I’ve had one issue so far which was a Cylinder 7 misfire causing a studder/jerking feeling between 40-50mph and it threw a code for that cylinder. I replaced the coil pack which didn’t help it of course so I’m waiting for a clear day to replace all the plugs and coil packs but I’m pretty sure that’s not causing my tick.

I read up about the Ford TSB 800-1200rpm rattle/tick from the VCT but I don’t know enough to feel confident in saying that that’s my issue and I’m afraid to cause damage to the engine if I continue to let it go on.

I have no idle sputtering or the truck dying or anything just the 40-50mph shuttering and this loud ticking at low rpms. I hear it really well when I’m right next to a building.

I’ve included a video of the noise

i would great appreciate any and all advice
